Both phones will perform well in low light conditions thanks to the same large image sensor by Sony.
The telephoto camera of OnePlus 12 has a 1/2.0-inch 64 MP OmniVision OV64B image sensor with an f/2.6 aperture lens. Surprisingly, the telephoto camera’s image sensor used in realme is larger than OnePlus. realme GT5 Pro comes with a 1/1.56-inch 50 MP Sony IMX 890 image sensor and an f/2.6 aperture lens, offering 2.7x optical zoom compared to OnePlus’ 3x. Note that Sony IMX 890 is actually the image sensor of OnePlus 11’s main camera.
While both phones have powerful main and telephoto cameras, differences arise in the ultrawide angle camera. However, if you find realme’s camera performance sufficient, or let’s say if a mediocre ultrawide angle camera doesn’t bother you too much, then realme GT5 Pro is a definite buy and there is a very good reason for that.
As of the time this article was written, both devices have not been globally released yet but were already introduced in China. There’s a significant price difference between the two devices, with OnePlus 12‘s 12GB+256GB variant priced at 599USD and realme GT5 Pro‘s 12GB+256GB variant at 499 USD. realme is approximately 20% cheaper than OnePlus, making it actually a very compelling option unless you are a long-time OnePlus fan.
